Oldmachar Academy gets Green Flag Eco Award

Pupils and staff at Oldmachar Academy have been working together to make the school more eco-friendly.  Their efforts have lead to them going straight to the top of the Eco-Schools award scheme with a Green Flag Award. 

The school now recycles paper, ink cartridges, mobile phones and plastic bottles.  It has a compost bin and has introduced birdfeeders, special plants and bird boxes to promote biodiversity.  Energy saving measures have been introduced and many improvements have been made to the grounds, including pavement art, new benches and a state of the art bike shed.  Special focus events like Fair Trade fortnight, Walk to School Week and Bike Week, have been enjoyed by the whole school.
